PRESS RELEASE

DATE:             February 4, 2020

FROM:            ST. CLAIRSVILLE’S CITY COUNCIL UTILITIES COMMITTEE

SUBJECT:        CODE RED

RELEASE:       FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

St. Clairsville’s City Council Utilities Committee met on February 3 for its regularly scheduled meeting.  On the agenda was how best to alert City residents in the event of a utility service disruption.  The Committee concluded the most effective method to alert residents of power or water outages is through use of the Belmont County 911 CODE RED system.

The first step is for City residents to register their phone numbers (both landline and cellular) with CODE RED by going to www.belmontcounty911.com    In the event of a problem, the City identifies the streets or neighborhoods most likely to be impacted.  Then, the CODE RED system will make residents aware of problems with the City’s water, sewer or electric utilities.

If residents have questions or need assistance in registering with the CODE RED system, the City’s Municipal Utilities Office staff is available to help.  Please call the Utilities Office on 740-695-1410 during normal business hours (8:30 A. M. and 4:30 P. M. weekdays, except on federal holidays).

Councilwoman Beth Oprisch thanks residents in advance for working with the City to make this City-County partnership a successful one.
