Annexed to the City of St. Clairsville, Memorial Park is managed by an independent Park District Board. Its primary source of funding is two levies, one dedicated to maintenance and the second reserved for limited staffing. The park provides: a playground; baseball field; basketball, tennis and pickelball courts; swimming pool; and shelters. The City of St. Clairsville and Richland Township supplement the funding with in-kind assistance as needed.
In July, 2018, the City anticipates the official opening of a Nature Walking Trail which will connect the northeast corner of Memorial Park to a heavily forested piece of undeveloped property. The Nature Walking Trail will be a wooded trail approximately one mile long with a mulched 6 to 8 foot wide path. It will be open to the public. Mayor Pugh is proud of this collaborative effort between the City of St. Clairsville, the Park District, Gulfport Energy Corporation, and the Ohio River Valley Council of Boy Scouts. The Nature Walking Trail, featuring two waterfalls and several bridges at stream crossings, will be a unique addition to the community’s recreation options.
