A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT

OF DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT OF THE

ELECTRIC DEPARTMENT FROM AND AFTER JULY 11, 2017

AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, pursuant to the Charter of the City of St. Clairsville, Ohio, the Deputy Superintendent of the Electric Department shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation of the majority of council for a period not to exceed the Mayor’s term of office; and WHEREAS, the new term for the office of the Deputy Superintendent of the City of St. Clairsville begins on July 10, 2017, and continues on a probationary period for six (6) months at which time it will become a permanent position upon the recommendation of the Mayor and approval of the Council; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of St. Clairsville, Terry Pugh, has appointed Anthony Kotson to serve as the Deputy Superintendent of the Electric Department for the City of St. Clairsville, Ohio; and s

WHEREAS, Council for the City of St. Clairsville desires to confirm the appointment of Anthony Kotson as the Deputy Superintendent of the Electric Department for a probational term.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ST. CLAIRSVILLE, OHIO:

Section 1: That the appointment of Anthony Kotson as the Deputy Superintendent of the Electric Department from and after July 10, 2017 and to continue on a probationary period for six (6) months at which time it will become a permanent position upon the recommendation of the Mayor and approval of the Council.

Section 2: The salary of the Deputy Superintendent of the Electric Department shall be Forty-Seven Thousand Five Hundred and No/100 Dollars ($47,500.00) per year for the probationary period to be increased to Fifty Thousand and No/100 Dollars ($50,000.00) per year once he is approved for a permanent position and be entitled to the benefit package as other City employees.

Section 3: That this Resolution is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and the safety of the residents of the City of St. Clairsville regarding the hiring of the Deputy Superintendent for the Electric Department.

PASSED at a meeting of the Council of the City of St. Clairsville on this 5th day of July, 2017, by the affirmative vote of 6 members of the council.
