A reminder that Veterans Day is a federal holiday which is celebrated on the actual date of November 11 rather than on a Monday.  It is observed on November 11 to recall the end of World War I on that date in 1918 (major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 when the Armistice with Germany went into effect).

City offices will be closed in observance of this important day.  Mayor Thalman will deliver remarks at the Veterans celebration which will take place at noon on the Courthouse Plaza.
