AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE
DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE/SAFETY TO SOLICIT
COMPETITIVE BIDS FOR THE RESURFACING OF
STREETS IN THE CITY OF ST. CLAIRSVILLE
AND AUTHORIZING AN EXPENDITURE
NOT TO EXCEED $185,000.00 FOR THE CALENDAR
YEAR 2021 AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, the City has determined that various streets have fallen into a state of disrepair and need to be resurfaced; and
WHEREAS, the resurfacing of various City streets will improve the public peace, health, and welfare of the residents of the City of St. Clairsville.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ST. CLAIRSVILLE, OHIO:
SECTION 1: That the Director of Public Service/Safety for the City of St. Clairsville is authorized and directed to solicit competitive bids for the resurfacing of various City streets in the City of St. Clairsville, and to accept the lowest bid for the resurfacing and to authorize work for such resurfacing not to exceed $185,000.00 for the calendar year 2021.
SECTION 2: That the Director of Public Service/Safety is authorized to spend funds for the resurfacing of various City streets upon award of a contract.
SECTION 3: That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, welfare and safety of the residents of the City of St. Clairsville and for further reasons that delays in the resurfacing of the City streets will adversely affect the safety interests of the residents of the City of St. Clairsville and the financial interest of the City.
SECTION 4: That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by the Charter of the City of St. Clairsville, Ohio.
PASSED at a meeting of the Council of the City of St. Clairsville on this 16th day of August, 2021, by the affirmative vote of 5 members of the council.
