ORDINANCE 2021-33
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE
DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE/SAFETY TO ADVERTISE
FOR BIDS/PROPOSALS FOR NECESSARY INSURANCE
COVERAGES AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, certain policies of insurance (i.e. general liability, auto liability, property, crime, boiler and machinery, policy liability, public officials liability, etc.) which provide coverage for the City of St. Clairsville are expiring in the near future; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to receive proposals from insurance agencies for said coverages.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ST. CLAIRSVILLE, OHIO:
SECTION 1: That the Director of Public Service/Safety for the City of St. Clairsville is hereby authorized and directed to undertake the necessary action to request proposals, through advertisement, from insurance agencies for insurance coverages, including but not limited to the following: general liability, auto liability, property, crime, boiler and machinery, police liability, public officials liability, earthquake coverage, impound lot/garage keepers.
SECTION 2: That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and the safety of the residents of the City of St. Clairsville and for the further reason that the current insurance coverages are due to expire and, therefore, proceeding with passing this Ordinance on an emergency basis will avoid the potential for a lapse in coverages.
SECTION 3: That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after the earliest period allowed by the Charter of the City of St. Clairsville, Ohio.
PASSED at a meeting of the Council of the City of St. Clairsville on this 18th day of October, 2021, by the affirmative vote of 5 members of the council.
