RESOLUTION NUMBER 2022-2

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR

 OF THE CITY OF ST. CLAIRSVILLE TO ENTER INTO A

CONTRACT WITH PUBLIC ENTITIES POOL OF OHIO (PEP)

FOR NECESSARY INSURANCE COVERAGES AND

 DECLARING AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, certain policies of insurance (i.e. general liability, auto liability, property, crime, boiler and machinery, police liability, public officials liability, etc.) which provide coverage for the City of St. Clairsville are expiring in the very near future; and

WHEREAS, as a result of review, it has been determined that, in regards to insurance coverages, the best interests of the City of St. Clairsville will be served by accepting the proposal submitted by Public Entities Pool of Ohio (PEP); and

WHEREAS, the proposal of Public Entities Pool of Ohio (PEP) and all other proposals received by the City were submitted in accordance with requests for proposals through advertisement coordinated by the Office of the Director of Public Services.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ST. CLAIRSVILLE:

SECTION 1That the Mayor of the City of St. Clairsville is directed and authorized to enter into a contract with Public Entities Pool of Ohio (PEP) for insurance coverages involving the following:  general liability, auto liability, property, crime, boiler and machinery, police liability, public officials liability, earthquake coverage, impound lot/garage keepers.

SECTION 2:  That the Finance Director for the City of St. Clairsville is authorized and directed to submit approximately $74,824.00 annually to Public Entities Pool of Ohio (PEP) pursuant to the proposal submitted by said agency, a copy of which is on file in the Office of the Director of Public Services.

SECTION 3:  That this Resolution is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and the safety of the residents of the City of St. Clairsville and for the further reason that the current insurance coverages are due to expire and, therefore, passing this Resolution on an emergency basis will avoid the potential for lapse in coverages.

SECTION 4:  This Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by the charter of the City of St. Clairsville, Ohio.

PASSED at a meeting of the Council of the City of St. Clairsville on this 7th day of February, 2022, by the affirmative vote of 6 members of council.
