Mayor Thalman Welcomes Governor Mike DeWine to St. Clairsville

Mayor Thalman and City administrators were pleased with Governor Mike DeWine’s visit to the City of St. Clairsville on Thursday, April 28, 2022.  In his remarks, the Governor announced that the State of Ohio intends to direct $500 million to the 32 counties in Ohio which are located within Appalachia (a federal designation of 423 counties across 13 states which spans 206,000 square miles, from southern New York to northern Mississippi).  Governor DeWine expects the state legislature to vote on this funding package by the end of the year, allowing the money to be spent over the next two years.   Governor DeWine urged collaboration by multiple entities and stressed that planning for these funds would be local government-driven.
